Mike Buckingham was for many years a journalist in Gwent, and he draws on themes familiar to readers of Machen: the sinister nature of the forest and the experience of war. The sixth and final story in our series is set in the heart of Wentwood during the Second World War, where the Secret Army are preparing to resist invasion. Iain's story, haunted by the trace of Arthur Machen, follows a trail from Verulam Buildings to Stoke Newington. The first in our new London Adventures series is House of Flies by Iain Sinclair. Five Leaves in Nottingham have also had some copies.
